Sponsor Barbie

10 yr old Toy Poodle

Barbie's history is unknown to us, she was left at a pound with little to no information by her owner.

Our vet check revealed many health issues and we believe this is the reason she was disposed of. Barbie requires medication several times a day by her foster family to treat a heart murmur, sever anxiety and more worryingly, a collapsing trachea.

Barbie will live her life out in permanent palliative foster care within DRN.

Sponsor Bobby

3 yr old Staffy X

Bobby was born with a neurological condition which caused him to shake all over and wobble as he walked, he would stumble, fall and trip, in fact he looked like he was doing the time warp, it was terribly worrying. He has undergone two years of trialling assorted medications and treatments. Thanks to sponsorship contributions Bobby receives acupuncture therapy each month with positive results after each session.

Bobby loves people and thrives on attention. He will never be like a normal dog, however he does have a quality of life and is always happy. We will always be here for Bobby.

Sponsor Buddy O

9 yr old Mini Fox Terrier

Meet Buddy, he loved his dad very much, sadly his dad passed away. He lived with his mum for one year before she to passed away leaving Buddy alone and with no-where to go.

He lived alone for several weeks whilst being fed by a supportive caring neighbour who reached out to DRN to help him. Since entering our care we have found Buddy has a level 5 heart murmur and epileptic episodes.

We believe Buddy will remain in the care of DRN because of his health issues. Your sponsorship contributions will help us pay for his medications, food and equipment.

Sponsor Chuck

10 yr old Bullmastiff

Chuck came to us in October, 2023 from a local pound who was concerned about his welfare. He had severe skin allergies and was extremely thin. It has taken a long time to manage his condition, but since transitioning to a home-cooked fresh food diet, his skin and weight has improved dramatically. Unfortunately, we don’t have special meals readily available at DRN, so we need extra support to help us with his special diet costs.

Chuck is a very loving fellow and is available for adoption, he does require meals specially prepared, a warm bed inside and no cats, he doesn’t like cats, he does love human company though.

Sponsor Mitzi (Coffey)

12 yr old Shi-Tzu

Coffey came into DRN with ear and eye infections as well as a severe skin allergy, it was so bad she would bleed as she scratched so much.  After many vet visits and treatments we have a very happy girl.
Coffey has found her forever home and is very much loved by her new mum.  DRN will be providing her life long allergy medication to ensure she lives a long healthy and happy life.
Coffey will remain on the sponsorship program while needing this medication as it is $175 per bottle.  Your sponsorship will be making a difference to the quality of life this girl will continue to enjoy.

Sponsor Floyd

6 yr old Bull Arab X

Floyd found himself as an unclaimed stray at the pound in a state of total shut down. This boy was so frightened of everything that he hid behind his bed, shaking and unable to control his bodily functions. Who knows what trauma he endured in the past.

Initial vet work included de-sexing and dewclaw removal, a second operation on one dewclaw was required when it failed to heal. He also required investigation into a pronounced limp on his right front leg.

Floyd has been with his DRN foster mum for several years, in that time he has gained self-confidence within his home but still hides and shuts down when anyone visits. Floyd requires monthly adaptil collars and calming medication to assist his fearfulness.

Floyd is wonderful with the foster dogs that come and go, especially young puppies. He is even beginning to play in his own funny way.

Sponsor Freckles

16 yr old Cattle X

I’m a lovely senior gentlemen called Freckles. I have many health issues and fears which is why I need to be on the sponsorship program.

I entered DRN in January 2023 but didn’t join the sponsorship program until May 2023. I had a lump removed from my back leg which was very successful, and I must take medication daily for a heart murmur. Now I am learning how to socialise and experience new things like chase a ball, I don’t understand that one at all.

As I mature my hearing is deteriorating, but all things considered, I am one very happy senior boy.

Sponsor Jacko

18 yr old Terrier Mix

Jacko was waiting for adoption for over two years along with his mate - Tinkerbelle. Sadly, Tinkerbelle passed away.

He loved to chase his tennis ball, but due to some arthritis and old age he tends to sleep most of the time now.

Jacko is no longer available for adoption due to his age and old man issues.

Sponsor Janey

17 yr old Maltese X

Janey was left at the pound by her owner with rotten teeth and a filthy matted coat. It took our groomer considerable time to shave all her matted hair off.

She is a sweet adorable girl who suffers from separation anxiety, she may require medication for this in the future, we want to try different training techniques first. Veterinary tests revealed Janey is sight and hearing impaired.

Your sponsorship is much appreciated as it will assist us with her ongoing veterinary costs.

Sponsor Jock

5 yr old Pug x Bulldog

Jock has experienced a tough past with five years of many many untreated ongoing health issues. He has food allergies that we are exploring but the worst he has suffered is a long term yeast infection that has permanently damaged his skin, as well as this he has reduced hearing. His poor eye health has the potential to further reduce his eyesight which has disappointingly, already deteriorated.
Despite these challenges, Jock is a placid, loving and affectionate dog who tries his best not to be a problem.
If you can help us to help Jock your sponsorship will go towards his ongoing medical treatment, medications, vet visits, special dietary food and any other necessary care to manage his health conditions and improve his quality of life.
He will remain in the care of DRN within his current foster home and will be reassessed for adoption in the future.

Sponsor Kozzie

6 yr old Blue Cattle Dog

Hi there, my name is Kozzie and I’m adorable. So why am I on the sponsorship program you ask? I have a big nipping problem.
My foster carer, vet and DRN dog trainer is working with me so I learn what is right from wrong. I think I will be here for quite a while. As of May 2022 I am being medicated and am undergoing muzzle training. Your sponsorship will help to pay for the expensive medication and keep me healthy and safe with a full tummy.
Speaking of which, I’m a healthy happy boy and I do love tummy rubs.

I will not be available for adoption whilst I nip everyone.

Little Lucy has experienced what no dog should. She came to us with infected ears, she severely bites herself and suffers from anxiety, she will be closely monitored by her permanent foster mum and the vet.

Your sponsorship will help us provide Lucy with medication long term as well as any necessary treatments she may require in the future.

Lucy is settling into home life with her DRN mum, she is eating everything in sight, sleeps comfortably on her mum’s bed and enjoys her outings. Lucy is loved and adored and will never again be mistreated or be denied of anything she requires.

Sponsor Marley

12 yr old Greyhound

Marley entered DRN with a few serious medical issues, one being that she has a right shoulder injury that causes ongoing pain and always will, the second concern being that Marley broke one of her rear legs and a plate was surgically inserted. We recently became aware that the plate needs removing as it’s been rubbing through the skin from the inside. This has caused several severe and complicated infections. After the plate has been removed Marley will require rehabilitation.

To date, Marley has required acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, physiotherapy, orthopaedic surgery, gabapentin, cartrophen, pain medications, antibiotics and more.

We have been trialling Marley on the beransa injection with great results, we would like to continue this, and at a cost of $100 a month, your sponsorship is an enormous help. Thank you.

Sponsor Molly T

10 yr old Golden Retriever x Border Collie

Meet Molly! She suffers from extremely severe allergies.
Molly requires multiple ear treatments a day to help her chronic (and very painful) ear infections.
Molly's allergies also impact her skin and cause severe irritation as well as bowel issues. She has lost a lot of teeth and the ones left are damaged due to the constant biting/gnawing for her allergies that she has done to her skin over the years.
These on-going issues require daily attention and a specific diet to help Molly live her best life.
Molly is a beautiful, obedient dog who loves people and enjoys going on walks. Molly is not available for adoption due to the severity of her health conditions.

New-Princess.jpeg

Sponsor Princess

13 yr old Papillon X

Our vet has diagnosed Princess with Cushings Syndrome which requires ongoing vet care with monthly blood testing, along with expensive daily medication called Trilostane.
She also has skin and coat issues which need close monitoring and treatment as required.
As if that’s not enough, we must regularly monitor lumps that are covering her body.
Princess has a big personality and loves to share lots of kisses.  She also LOVES water and is in it when she can be, body or foot, it doesn’t matter.
Due to her ongoing and expensive medical requirements, your sponsorship is much appreciated, no matter how big or small.
Princess is in palliative care, and and is not available for adoption.

Sponsor Sally

13 yr old Chihuahua x Mini Fox Terrier

This mum and daughter team were adopted from DRN 7 years ago. Sadly their owner passed away, and police found them after a week of living in the home without food and attention.  The experience has been traumatic for both Sally and Pippa which has affected them.
Our professional trainers are working with our DRN carer and these two little ladies to help them overcome their anti-social behaviours and fears.  We also believe being forcibly removed from their home by police has only added to their confusion and stress.
The vet also needed to extract four teeth from Sally’s mouth, which only added to her stress.

This lovely girl was in such bad condition when DRN rescued her due to abuse.  She needed to gain a kilo before she could even be vaccinated.

Due to her medical issues, she will remain with her DRN foster carer until she passes away. Thank you for sponsoring this little lady.

Sponsor Zoe

13 yr old Maltese X

Zoe came into care after the passing of her elderly parents. Her special needs meant that she required special care and was brought to DRN.
Eating is extremely difficult for Zoe, as she was born with a severe cleft palate, meaning that food can get caught and she has a high risk of infection and choking.
She is quirky and grumpy with cat-like mannerisms and a behavioural attitude.
Zoe is in palliative care, and not available for adoption.
